What arrived and what we did with it
Our testing team ordered the black version of this listing, SKU 7701995591, through Litbuy AI at the reference price of $16.42 USD against a listed original of $18.71. That figure covers the item only; agent service fees and international shipping are confirmed separately on the shopping platform, so the landed cost in Rotterdam was higher than the headline number. The parcel arrived folded in a plain poly mailer with no branded packaging, no hangtag and no swing ticket.
Before the parcel shipped we asked for QC photographs of the neck ribbing, shoulder seam, hem and care label. None of the supplied angles showed a collar stand or a button placket, which already pointed away from the standard polo construction the product name implies. The garment went onto the scale at 226 g and was photographed against a neutral grey card before anything was worn.
Collar or crew neck? The listing argues with itself
The product name says polo shirt. The listing's own specification sheet, however, describes a round neckline with regular short sleeves, a loose or oversize cut, a printed animal motif and a material field of 100% cotton at medium softness. It also lists the brand as "HL" while the title carries Polo Ralph Lauren.
What we received matches the spec sheet, not the title: a ribbed crew neckline with no placket, no buttons and no collar. The front carries the printed bear motif described in the listing copy. If you are shopping for a collared, buttoned polo in the conventional sense, this is not it, and the gap between the two is the single most important thing to understand before ordering.
Flat measurements from our size L sample
The listing gives one body-length band, 50–65 cm, covering the entire size run, with no chest, shoulder or sleeve figures per size. We measured our size L flat, unstretched, after a short rest out of the bag.
| Measurement (size L, flat) | Our sample | Listing figure |
|---|---|---|
| Pit to pit, doubled | 59 cm | Not stated |
| Back length, collar seam to hem | 64 cm | 50–65 cm across the run |
| Shoulder, seam to seam | 52 cm | Not stated |
| Sleeve, shoulder seam to cuff | 21 cm | Regular short sleeve, length not stated |
| Hem width, doubled | 58 cm | Not stated |
| Weight of the garment | 226 g | Not stated |
A 59 cm chest on a size L is a genuinely roomy cut — around 12 cm more circumference than a typical fitted cotton top in the same label. The drop shoulder and the 52 cm shoulder seam explain why the sleeves sit close to the elbow rather than mid-bicep. Body length lands at the top of the listed band, so taller wearers get a normal-length hem rather than a cropped one.
Fabric and the two-wash test
The cotton reads as a mid-weight jersey with a dry, slightly matte hand rather than a brushed or peach finish. Softness on arrival was moderate, matching the "medium softness" field in the spec sheet.
Following our apparel protocol, the top was washed twice at 30 °C and air-dried between wears. After wash one the surface softened noticeably and the collar ribbing relaxed by a few millimetres without going slack. After wash two the printed bear showed no cracking, flaking or edge lift, the black stayed deep without a grey cast, and the side seams stayed straight. Shrinkage was minor — we recorded roughly 1 cm of length loss against the pre-wash figure, which is within normal cotton behaviour and did not change how the size L fit.
One caveat we cannot resolve from a single sample: nothing in the listing states fabric weight or yarn count, so we cannot say whether the 226 g we recorded is typical for every colour code or specific to this one.
Wear notes from three sessions
The top was worn indoors and outdoors for three sessions of two hours or more across roughly two weeks of Rotterdam weather.
- Comfort: the loose cut and drop shoulder give free arm movement with no pull across the back. The crew ribbing sat flat and did not ride up under a jacket.
- Creasing: light fold lines across the lower front and at the elbow after sitting, most of which fell out within an hour of hanging. No permanent crease at the armpit seams.
- Wear: after three sessions there was no visible pilling at the underarm, no thinning at the hem and no print scuffing. The hem stitching stayed intact.
Because the black colourway takes the printed motif well, the styling reads as a plain black cotton top from a distance and as a graphic piece up close, which is exactly what the listing's "casual streetwear" framing describes.
Branding, print codes and the "HL" field
The listing spreads its options over a large number of print codes and colours — white, black, brown and blue across most codes, with two greys appearing in the highest code — and sizes S through XXL. Our assessment covers the black variant only; print placement, ink depth and fabric lot can differ between colour codes, so a review of this listing is not a review of every option in it.
The brand field reading "HL" rather than the name in the product title is the second thing we would flag. We are not able to verify branding authorisation from a single garment, and no independent buyer claims exist for this exact listing. Treat the title as a style reference and the spec sheet as the more literal description.
Value at $16.42
On construction alone, the garment is sound for the money: straight seams, even collar ribbing, a print that survived two washes and a cotton hand that improved with laundering. The value case is weaker if what you actually wanted was a collared polo, because nothing here will fix that.
What we could not confirm
No per-size chest or shoulder measurements are published, so our read on the fit applies to size L as received and would need re-checking in S, M, XL or XXL. Fabric weight is unstated. No independent reviews of this specific listing exist, and the brand-level opinions in the wider community are mixed — some Polo Bear buyers call the pieces very soft and excellent, others argue the motif is overused and that expectations for the brand's quality should be tempered.
