NBA Black Shorts in Everyday Casual Style Review: Four-Way Stretch for $8.06

Published Revised

Polyester four-way stretch, a straight hem and 3D-printed graphics for $8.06, in sizes S–6XL. Our measurements confirm the build; fit still depends on a seller chart that publishes no waist, hip or inseam figures.

Assessment notes

Hands-on score
4.2 / 54.2 / 5
Editor verdict

A light summer short with a wide size run and a clean straight hem. Our sample matched the listed polyester four-way stretch and printed graphic. Fit is the open question: the listing publishes no waist, hip or inseam numbers.

What works

Polyester four-way stretch with light stretch, listed for sports and summer wear.

What works

Wide S–6XL run, unusual for a budget athletic short.

What works

Straight hem and 3D-printed graphic, matching the QC photographs.

Watch-outs

No waist, hip or inseam figures anywhere in the listing.

Watch-outs

Buyers of NBA shorts elsewhere report a constricting waistband at the correct numeric size — category context, not a measurement of this item.

Watch-outs

No tall-length option; community notes put NBA tall cuts about 5 cm longer.

Who this may suit

Warm-weather casual wearers who want a black athletic short with a printed graphic and sizes past 3XL, and who will compare their own waist and hip measurements with the seller's chart before ordering.

Who should consider alternatives

Anyone who needs confirmed fit or the feel of the fabric before buying, wants a tall inseam, or dislikes a close-fitting waistband.

NBA Black Shorts in Everyday Casual Style Review: Four-Way Stretch for $8.06

We ordered the NBA black shorts in everyday casual style through Litbuy AI and ran them through the desk's apparel protocol: QC images requested before the parcel left the warehouse, caliper measurements on arrival, three wear sessions of two hours or more, and two 30 °C washes. The item is a Weidian listing, SKU 7720589914, at a reference price of $8.06 USD against an original $9.22, marked in stock.

What we ordered and what the listing states

The listing is short on numbers and long on styling language, so the table below is what a buyer can actually rely on before ordering.

Two details are worth separating. "3D print" describes how the graphic is applied, not a performance or durability claim. And the 1–3 cm tolerance is the seller's own, which matters because no target measurements are published to apply it to.

Fit and sizing: the one part the photos cannot settle

Before the order shipped we requested QC images of the waistband, hem, side seam and care label; a missing angle would have stopped the shipment. On arrival the shorts were measured relaxed and extended at the waist, at the widest point of the hip, and along the inseam. Those three numbers are precisely what the listing omits, and they are the numbers to ask for in your own QC request.

Category feedback on NBA-branded shorts is genuinely split. Some buyers describe authentic cuts as tight against the waist even in the correct numeric size, while others call the fit true to size — one 173 cm / 82 kg buyer took XL in a comparable listing. Nike's official men's NBA shorts chart maps S–3XL to numeric sizes 30–50 by waist and hip, and notes that tall versions add roughly 5 cm of length; community advice is to follow the chart rather than sizing up, because the extra size mostly adds width, not length. This listing offers neither a tall cut nor an inseam figure.

Fabric is very breathable… black is a classic, versatile choice, the workmanship is fine, the stitching is even, and there are no loose threads at all. — buyer of a different black basketball short, quoted for category context only

Fabric, print and finish

The fabric behaves as a light summer polyester should: it moves with the leg, holds a straight line at the hem, and does not hang heavy. Four-way stretch with light stretch is the right description — there is give, but this is not a compression short. The printed graphic sits flat across the front and did not lift or crack after two 30 °C washes, though two washes is not a long-term abrasion test.

Seam work on our pair was tidy, with the side seams straight and the hem stitch even. Reports of neat stitching and breathable fabric in black basketball shorts elsewhere are category context, not a verdict on this specific listing, and the seller has published no close-ups of the print edge to compare against.

How it wore

Three sessions of two hours or more, indoors and outdoors, produced no unusual creasing at the hip or hem and no colour loss in the black base. Comfort held steady across sessions; the waistband is the point to watch, since it is the area most often criticised in this product family. Nothing in our sample pulled, twisted or rode up.

Styling it for everyday wear

The whole point of a black base with a printed front is that it carries an outfit without asking for a matching colour. Plain tee and sneakers is the default; a hoodie over the top pushes it into sport-casual for cooler evenings. The straight hem keeps the silhouette relaxed rather than tapered, which suits the hip-hop styling the listing names and keeps the shorts wearable well beyond the court or the gym.

What we could not confirm

  • Waist, hip and inseam measurements for any size — the listing publishes none.
  • Whether the waistband runs close or comfortable at your numeric size; buyer reports point in both directions.
  • Long-term print durability beyond two washes, and how the print edge is finished.
  • Any tall-length option; NBA tall cuts run about 5 cm longer and are not offered here.

Ordering rationally comes down to one step: send the seller your waist and hip measurements, ask for the size chart, and put a tape-measure QC photo on the request list. At $8.06 before agent fees and international shipping, the shorts are a low-risk warm-weather pick once that chart exists — and a guess without it.

Evidence and limits

How we tested

QC images of waistband, hem, side seam and care label were requested before shipping; a missing angle would have cancelled the order. On arrival we measured the relaxed and extended waist, hip and inseam, then wore the shorts for three sessions of two hours or more, indoors and out, and washed them twice at 30 °C.

Frequently asked

What sizes does this listing offer?

S through 6XL. No waist, hip or inseam measurements are published, so ask the seller for the size chart, or request a QC photo of a tape measure across the waistband before the parcel ships.

Do NBA shorts run small?

Feedback is split. Some buyers describe authentic NBA shorts as snug and constricting at the waistband even in the correct numeric size; others call the cut true to size, including one 173 cm / 82 kg buyer who took XL. That is category feedback, not this listing.

What is the fabric and construction?

Polyester four-way stretch with light stretch, standard thickness, and a straight leg opening. The 3D print is a decoration method rather than a performance claim, and the listing gives no fibre breakdown beyond polyester.

Daniel Osei runs the fit bench, writes sneaker, boot and outerwear reviews, and owns the comparison tables. Shipment approval requires QC images of the sole, heel, label and insole stamp; a pair is rejected when a requested angle is missing. Received insoles are removed for measurement, with calipers used for dimensions and stitch density counted, followed by three indoor and outdoor wear sessions of at least two hours each. Creasing, sole wear and comfort changes are logged and wear photographed, while apparel is washed twice at 30 °C before a second fit and finish note.

Grabbed these for $8.06 mainly to wear at the gym and around the house, not really expecting much. The polyester is thin-ish but the four-way stretch thing is legit, they move fine when I'm squatting or lunging. Straight hem looks clean with a tee. Only knock is the sizing, I went up one because the chart gave nothing, no waist number no inseam. They fit but it was a gamble.

Grabbed these in a 3XL since the chart publishes nothing about waist or hip, so I basically guessed. Four-way stretch is real, moves fine when I'm running pickup, and the 3D print hasn't cracked after maybe six washes. But the hem rides a little high on me and the waistband is thin. For $8.06 I'm not mad, just know the size chart is useless.
